Scheduling Slab Leak Repair

It is important for any homeowner to understand what a slab leak is and why a slab leak can cause so many problems. Numerous water lines and pipes run beneath the concrete slab used as the foundation for homes, and slab leaks develop when these water lines and pipes are damaged.

Slab leaks can develop as the result of various factors including the age of the water lines and pipes and the corrosion that can occur with these water lines and pipes over time. They can also be the result of abrasion to water lines and pipes, which occurs when pipes rub up against the slab. Slab leaks are far more common with older pipes that are experiencing natural degradation along with wear and tear.

Signs that you may require slab leak repair include the presence of foul odors in and around your home, water damage to your floor, and moist spots on your flooring. You may also notice moist areas on the ground around your property, along with unusually lush grass. If you have noticed any of these signs and are wondering whether you may be experiencing a slab leak, you can schedule our slab leak detection service. Thorough Plumbing provided expert plumbing services in Plano, Texas. The team arrived to find water spots outside the front door and floors rippling across several rooms. Careful testing revealed leaks in the hot water line from the heater to various parts of the home. To fix the problem, they had to open multiple walls to reach copper manifolds. They rerouted the water line through the attic to ensure smooth flow to the kitchen sink and the Jack-and-Jill bathroom, also adding insulation for extra protection.

After exposing the water lines found not only the leaking one inch pipe buried in the concrete but also two three quater lines and a half inch line are buried. Recommend rerouting all the line to eliminate future leaks in the slab. Reroute all manifold line that go through the slab to loop under the beam.

Five foot tunnel through concrete in garage. Removed manifold for the filtration system which also was the 1 copper main line to the home. It is now connected directly to the manifold with valve. Lots of pitting on copper indicates future issues will occur near our repair so recommend rerouting when possible.

Excavation from back patio through the concrete. Exposed two water lines that are to close to drill without damaging the other. Rerouted both the 12 copper and 34 copper on the hot side where water was coming through the slab rather than under. The only way to make repair was to drill through the slab and bring up both lines into the bathroom wall and rebuild the manifold with cabinet access. Mill wrapped lines in slab and reconnected by brazing both lines with couplings. Installed new 14 shut off valves, supply lines, p-trap and put panel back the best we could. Also, finished with connecting the drain line with Sch40 PVC that had the beginning stages of roots.

Garage next to water heater located water coming up through slab by excavating and busting concrete. The feed line from water heater to manifold for master bath had galvanized pipe in the slab in between cold and hot side which had damaged pipes by electrolysis. Removed and rebuilt manifold with two 34 lines looped through slab and brazed on both feed line and line existing manifold.

Expected a 12 foot tunnel for a cold water line repair under the slab and needed an extra two feet for access. Also, while under the home there was a separation on the sewer line for the master tubsinks. We made both repairs braze on the copper water line and new P-trap and san-t connection to 3 PVC drain line and was able to backfill.
